A self-styled godman was detained on Friday by police in Odisha’s Bolangir district following allegations of sexual abuse involving two minor boys. The incident was reported from Puintala police limits, where the accused allegedly subjected the children to repeated abuse over several days.

According to local sources, the accused, identified as Partha Mugri, allegedly claimed to be associated with Mahima Dharma and introduced himself as a spiritual figure in the locality. Police said the matter came to light after the two minor brothers informed their family members about the alleged abuse.

Reports suggest the accused frequently called the children to his house on various pretexts and allegedly sexually assaulted them repeatedly. The two minor boys were also allegedly threatened and warned not to disclose the incidents to anyone, due to which they remained silent for several days.

The situation surfaced publicly after the children finally narrated their ordeal to family members. Following this, the father of the minors confronted and restrained the accused before informing the Puintala police.

Police personnel later arrived at the spot and detained the accused for questioning. Officials said further investigation is underway to ascertain all aspects related to the allegations. Authorities are also expected to record the statements of the victims and family members as part of the investigation process.

The incident has triggered concern among residents and raised questions over the activities of self-styled spiritual figures operating in rural areas without scrutiny. Child protection and safety remain major concerns in such sensitive cases.

Police have not yet released detailed information regarding formal charges or additional evidence collected during the investigation. Officials said more details would emerge after preliminary interrogation and legal procedures are completed.
