In a deeply distressing incident reported from Kendudangari village under Rupsa Police Station in Odisha’s Balasore district, a 40-day-old infant girl lost her life under tragic and alleged negligent circumstances amid a domestic dispute between her parents.

The deceased infant has been identified as the daughter of Dhiren Singh and Devi Singh, who were later arrested by police following a complaint and preliminary investigation into the case.

According to local sources, the couple frequently engaged in heated arguments and physical altercations, often under the influence of alcohol. Villagers stated that such incidents had become routine in the household, despite repeated attempts by neighbours to intervene and resolve the escalating conflicts.

On Thursday night, the couple reportedly consumed alcohol and once again became involved in a violent altercation. After the dispute, both allegedly fell asleep in an intoxicated state, leaving the infant unattended. Throughout the night, residents reported hearing the continuous crying of the baby and repeatedly attempted to alert the couple by knocking on the door. However, there was no response from inside the house.

By morning, when concerned villagers entered the house, they discovered that the 40-day-old baby girl had died under unexplained and heartbreaking circumstances. The sudden loss of such a young life has left the entire village in shock and grief, raising serious concerns over parental responsibility and domestic safety conditions.

Following the incident, a case was registered at Rupsa police station. Odisha Police initiated an investigation and detained both parents. They were later arrested and forwarded to court. Authorities are now working to determine the exact cause and sequence of events that led to the infant’s death.

The tragedy has sparked deep sorrow among locals, with many expressing anguish over how repeated domestic conflict and negligence culminated in the loss of an innocent life. Police have assured a thorough investigation into all aspects of the case.
