In a dramatic incident in Odisha’s Satyabadi, administrative officers faced ‘abuse’ while enforcing the law against illegal sand smuggling on Thursday. Police and revenue officials had intercepted a sand-laden truck carrying five loads of sand at Kadua Chaka. The seizure, carried out by Satyabadi police officer Soumyaranjan Mahalik, Additional Tehsildar Om Prakash Parida, and Biramchandrapur RI, led to a tense confrontation on the spot.

Four Youths Detained for Questioning

According to reports, the vehicle owner reportedly verbally ‘abused’ the officials in the middle of the road. Following the complaint, police detained four individuals for questioning, while six youths are accused of verbally abusing the enforcement team.

The authorities have confirmed that strict action will be taken to prevent further incidents and ensure that law enforcement personnel can carry out their duties safely. Locals have expressed concern over the rising instances of illegal sand transport and the challenges faced by officers in curbing it.

Officials emphasized the importance of community cooperation in curbing illegal activities and safeguarding public resources.
