After 12 long years of investigation and trial, justice was finally delivered, with the court naming Sanjay Khuntia as the main accused. The murder was reportedly committed over a monetary dispute, and the brutality of the crime horrified the city.

According to the case diary, after killing Sonu, the accused dismembered his body in a bathroom, packing the parts into 60 polythene bags and scattering them across the city.

Shockingly, the three men even consumed Sonu’s heart along with alcohol in a grotesque act that stunned investigators. The case drew the attention of the Special Squad, which conducted a thorough probe before apprehending the three perpetrators.
