In a shocking act of violence, a domestic dispute in Vidyadharpur village escalated into arson, leaving the local community in Dhenkanal district shaken. The incident occurred under the jurisdiction of Rasol police station when a heated quarrel between a married couple spiraled out of control.

The accused, identified as Gyanranjan Sahu, reportedly under the influence of alcohol, allegedly set fire to his father-in-law’s house late on Saturday night. The conflict began after a disagreement with his wife, Anita, who fled to her parental home to escape the confrontation. Unable to locate his wife and overcome by anger, Gyanranjan reportedly took the extreme step of setting the residence ablaze.

The fire caused partial to complete damage to the property, estimated to be worth several lakh rupees. Local residents alerted authorities, and the Rasol fire brigade quickly arrived at the scene to bring the flames under control, preventing further destruction.

Following the incident, Anita filed a formal complaint at Rasol police station. Gyanranjan has been taken into custody, and a thorough investigation is underway to ascertain the exact circumstances and extent of the damage.
