Dupatta Slips Between Platform and Train
An elderly Indian man has caught social media’s attention after he jumped onto a railway track to retrieve the dupatta (long shawl-like scarf) of an Indonesian woman.
The now-viral Instagram video, shared by digital creator @indaha.l, shows the woman standing near the gate of a stationary train at the New Delhi Railway Station (NDLS). While adjusting her camera, her dupatta accidentally slipped through the narrow gap between the train and the platform.
As the woman stood startled, a passerby quickly noticed the situation. He first gestured to her to wait and attempted to pull the garment out with his hand. When he failed to reach it, the elderly man carefully jumped between the train bogies and managed to recover the dupatta.
Selfless Act Leaves Indonesian Woman ‘Blank & Confused’
The woman was visibly stunned by the stranger’s effort and concern.
“I never expected him to go all out and actually jump down onto the tracks to help,” the woman said, adding: “Honestly, I’m blank and confused about what to do because I feel so sorry for taking someone’s help like this.”
Despite the risky effort, the man refused any assistance from her afterward. He quietly climbed back onto the platform and walked away without waiting for appreciation or acknowledgment.
A Bollywood Reference That Made The Internet Smile
Sharing the clip online, the woman compared the elderly helper to one of Bollywood’s most iconic romantic heroes. “Rahul came at the right time!!’ the woman captioned the video, referencing Shah Rukh Khan’s character, Rahul, from the 1998 movie, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai.
She further added, “By the way, I thought no one would respect or care, but he helped me so quickly. Thank you so much!”
Internet Applauds The Selfless Gesture
Since surfacing online, the video has amassed millions of views and thousands of reactions. Social media users praised the elderly man for stepping in instantly and helping a stranger without seeking recognition in return.
