Bonai in Sundargarh faces acute fuel shortage as petrol pumps run out of stock

Fuel shortage continued to affect normal life in Odisha’s Sundargarh district, with petrol pumps in Bonai town reportedly running out of stock and customers facing long delays and restricted supply.

According to reports, all three fuel stations located in the main Bonai town remained shut due to unavailability of petrol and diesel, with locks seen hanging at the outlets.

At the few fuel stations where petrol was available, customers were reportedly being supplied fuel worth not more than Rs 500.

Residents Face Difficulty Amid Fuel Crisis

The shortage has caused inconvenience to commuters and transport workers, many of whom were seen moving from one petrol pump to another in search of fuel.

One local resident said, “I reached here after searching at multiple fuel pumps. Finally, I found this petrol pump, but fuel supply has been capped at Rs 500. We will face more problems as we still have to travel another 100 km.”

Transport Workers Express Concern

Drivers and transport workers also expressed concern over the continuing fuel situation, stating that their livelihood depends on uninterrupted transportation services.

A driver said, “We voted this government into power, but after winning the election, they are not doing anything about our plight. Our livelihood depends on transportation and fuel is unavailable at most petrol pumps.”
