Power supply disrupted in Sundargarh after grid tower wire snaps during heavy rain

Electricity supply remained disrupted in parts of Odisha’s Sundargarh on Sunday after a grid tower transmission wire reportedly snapped and fell into the Brahmani river amid heavy rain, thunder and lightning in the Bonai area.
The incident occurred on Saturday night following intense rainfall and strong winds that also led to waterlogging in several areas of Bonai.
According to officials, the main grid tower wire passing over the Brahmani river from Tumkela snapped during the adverse weather conditions, resulting in disruption of electricity supply from around 12 midnight onwards.
Heavy Rain And Lightning Lash Bonai
Residents in different parts of Bonai reportedly faced inconvenience after power supply was affected overnight.
Officials suspect the transmission wire may have snapped due to heavy lightning activity and strong winds during the rain. The incident raised concerns among locals and officials.
Restoration Work Underway
The concerned JE said efforts are underway to reconnect the snapped transmission wire and restore electricity supply at the earliest.

The official further stated that if restoration work gets delayed, alternative arrangements would be made from another source as people are also dependent on electricity for water supply and other essential services.
