Giant python rescued from Shiva temple in Odisha’s Ganjam

An 8-foot python was rescued from inside a Shiva temple near Sonapur Beach in Chikiti area of Odisha’s Ganjam district on Thursday evening.

The snake was first spotted by the temple priest inside the temple premises. Following the sighting, villagers immediately alerted the Forest Department for assistance.

Forest Officials Rescue Python

After receiving information, Forest Department personnel along with members of the Snake Helpline team reached the spot and carried out a rescue operation. The python was safely rescued from the temple and later released into a nearby forest area.

Officials said the rescue operation was completed without any injuries or damage.

Similar Incidents Reported Earlier

According to local residents, this is not the first such incident reported from the area. Pythons have reportedly been rescued several times earlier from nearby locations as well.

The repeated sightings of pythons in the region have raised concerns among villagers living close to forested and coastal areas around Sonapur Beach.

People have been advised to immediately inform Forest Department officials and the Snake Helpline in such situations instead of attempting to handle the snake themselves.
