Odisha govt reserves dedicated fuel outlets for buses, trucks amid fuel crisis

Amid the ongoing fuel crisis concerns in Odisha, the State Transport Commissioner on Friday held a crucial review meeting and announced several key measures to ensure uninterrupted transportation services across the State. The meeting focused primarily on preventing disruptions in the operation of buses and trucks due to fuel supply issues reported from various districts.
As part of the decisions taken during the meeting, the administration has decided to reserve dedicated fuel outlets exclusively for buses and trucks to ensure a steady and uninterrupted supply of diesel for commercial and public transport vehicles. The move aims to prevent operational difficulties and maintain smooth transportation and logistics services during the current situation.
According to officials, specific petrol pumps will now be identified and designated in every district for refuelling buses and heavy vehicles. Transport operators have been asked to submit details of the fuel stations where their vehicles had been refuelling earlier. Based on these records, authorities will ensure adequate diesel stock at the selected outlets to meet the requirements of commercial transport vehicles.

Officials stated that maintaining sufficient diesel reserves at dedicated fuel stations would help avoid disruptions in passenger transport, goods movement and supply-chain operations across Odisha. The initiative is also expected to reduce panic among transport operators who have been expressing concern over fuel availability in recent days.
The Transport Commissioner emphasised the need for coordinated efforts among transport authorities, oil companies and vehicle owners to maintain uninterrupted vehicular movement across the State.
The latest move comes amid long queues at petrol pumps and rising public concern over fuel availability in several parts of Odisha. Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely to prevent any major disruption in public transportation and essential services.
