Bhubaneswar emerges as hottest city in Odisha

Bhubaneswar emerged as the hottest place in Odisha on Friday, with the capital city recording a temperature of 38.2 degrees Celsius by 2:30 PM, according to weather updates. The rising mercury levels have intensified the heat in the city, making it the warmest location in the State during the afternoon hours.

Among other major places, Balasore recorded a temperature of 37.8 degrees Celsius, closely followed by Chandbali at 37.4 degrees Celsius. Sambalpur registered 36.4 degrees Celsius during the same period.

The soaring temperatures across several districts indicate the prevailing heatwave-like conditions in parts of Odisha, with residents experiencing hot and humid weather. Authorities have advised people to take necessary precautions, avoid prolonged exposure to the sun during peak hours, and stay hydrated amid the intense summer conditions.

According to the prediction by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the heatwave condition is likely to prevail in the state for the next couple of days.

Meanwhile, IMD has predicted that the southwest monsoon is expected to make an early entry into the Andaman Sea and nearby Andaman and Nicobar Islands by the end of this week.

According to the prediction, atmospheric conditions are turning favourable for the onset of the monsoon over parts of the south Bay of Bengal, the Andaman Sea and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. If the forecast materialises, the monsoon will arrive nearly five to six days before its usual timeline.
