A tense situation prevailed outside Lok Seva Bhavan in Bhubaneswar on Friday after a woman allegedly attempted self-immolation near Gate No. 1, triggering panic in the high-security zone. The incident created a brief commotion as several people gathered at the spot while security personnel rushed to bring the situation under control.

According to reports, the woman tried to set herself on fire outside the main administrative building. However, alert SSB personnel deployed at the entrance acted swiftly and managed to restrain and rescue her before the incident could escalate into a major tragedy. Their timely intervention prevented any serious harm and helped avoid a potentially disastrous situation in front of the Secretariat premises.

Soon after being rescued, the woman broke down emotionally and levelled serious allegations against Banpur police. Speaking to mediapersons and officials present at the scene, she claimed that she had been mentally harassed and wrongfully detained by Banpur police without any valid reason. She alleged that the alleged police action had caused her immense mental stress and pushed her into distress.

The incident drew significant attention at the Lok Seva Bhavan premises, with officials and security staff immediately stepping in to manage the crowd and maintain order. Following the rescue operation, the woman was taken into police custody and later shifted to a hospital for medical examination and necessary treatment.
