Odisha may introduce restrictions on petrol, diesel use amid fuel crisis, says Chief Secy Anu Garg

Odisha government may soon introduce major measures regarding the use of petrol and diesel. Indications emerged that restrictions could be imposed on government vehicle usage and public transport may be encouraged on a mandatory basis.
Chief Secretary Anu Garg on Thursday indicated that the state government is likely to take several important decisions at the official level in view of the prevailing situation.
Govt Considering Fresh Measures
Speaking on the issue, the Chief Secretary said multiple steps are already being taken by the government to regulate fuel usage.
She informed that the Chief Minister already reduced the use of his official cavalcade by half, while several other officials also adopted similar measures.
According to Garg, instructions may soon be issued for government officers and employees regarding fuel consumption and official vehicle use.
Restrictions may also be imposed on the use of government vehicles as part of the proposed measures.
Public Transport May Be Encouraged
The Chief Secretary further indicated that the use of public transport could be made mandatory in certain cases as part of the government’s efforts.

Officials are expected to take further decisions on the matter.
Odisha Chief Secretary Anu Garg said, “Chief Minister Mohan Majhi has reduced his cavalcade. Several other officials have also taken similar measures. More decisions will be taken today, which will be informed later.”
